My 50 pushup challenge attempt didn’t quite reach to the fifty point I wanted. I’m a little disappointed yet I knew in some way the two week ‘regiment’ wouldn’t be enough. I can make it up to about 35 pushups without stopping, so to be enthusiastic, that’s better than where I was at two weeks ago, or at any point in my life. I learned something from a Youtuber named Shay Carl almost a year ago, and that is that as long as you’re trying, even if it’s only something small like walking up stairs instead of taking the elevator, at least you’re doing better than you were before.

Although a simple lesson it certainly helps when you’re trying to get to a better physical point. As long as you keep at it, really try and not make excuses, you can achieve whatever goal you’re going for. It might take longer than you had wished, but it’s all within reach. Shay Carl went on to lose 100lbs, and that was from a whopping 280lbs.. so at least I know he took his own advice and got what he wanted done.

From here on out I’ll be doing whatever I can here and there. I don’t want to set unrealistic goals, or force myself into boring routines. A little at a time and I’m positive I’ll be in the shape I want to see myself in.

It’s pretty amazing how something as simple as doing my 50 pushup challenge actually works, and is working well. It’s a small and modest goal to be able to achieve 50 continuous pushups but the results I’ve been experiencing have been great.

I’ve been doing two sets of 25 on a daily basis and I can already do them with relative ease in just a little over a week. My chest feels slightly firmer, and my arms feel stronger too. I feel that I’m well on my way to my first self improvement goal, so I couldn’t be happier. Of course this is just the beginning, I think next on my list is to commit to at least 3 days a week of running after the workday.

My endurance levels over the past year dropped pretty low and I’d like to give it a nice spring. I’ve gotten used to the idea of no physical activity and I want to reverse that. I suppose my renewed focus on health stems from new years, but at most it’s because I’m approaching my 24th birthday in June and I want to be fit and stay fit. There’s no reason I should feel obsolete.

*update*
Rather than only doing 25/day, I think two sets of 25/day would be better, so I’ll stick to that instead.

The idea for this parkour blog came about as I was thinking of ways to motivate myself in staying active and keeping fit. It remains to be seen how well it works in my favour but I’ll be optimistic. As it stands I can only do about 20 pushups in one go, it sounds like nothing, although the average amount but I’d like to set a goal of 50.

I’m no fitness guru, but I know enough to get things done. My thinking is if I do 25/day for 2 weeks it should help build my arms up to be able to handle the extra load when week 3 hits. This goal seems simplistic, but I don’t do pushups daily so it’ll be a little bit of challenge. I’ll be posting more ideas and progress updates as the days go.

(not me)

Site is now live. Everything is a work in progress at the moment. I’m not entirely set on website design or anything just yet, so it may change. In any event I’ll be using the blog to keep track of my progress in continuing to learn and improve my skills/ability in the art of movement; parkour.
